Land Survey
LAYOUT

The layout is all the survey operations performed by land surveyors by using marks to position and identify the exact location of a structure or structural features to be erected or modified in relation to the boundaries of the property, another existing structure or other reference lines. The outcome is a layout certificate that confirms the execution of the layout. Prior to issuing construction permits, municipalities often require a layout project. The surveyor must then prepare a plan on which the construction project and the property lines are indicated. The layout is governed by the Rules and regulations regarding the processes of staking and of a layout survey, of the Ordre des arpenteurs-géomètres du Québec (L.R.Q., c.A-23, r.11).
